It is impossible to capture how fantastic this orchid is - she is a member of the Grammatophyllum genus and grows in tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia - there are 13 species in this genus, one of which - the tiger orchid - is the largest orchid in the world. I don't know for sure which species this is but I love her...I almost always have an orchid blooming in my house and love to live in a climate (just barely) that I can tie them up in the shade and they will re-bloom. I lost all of the orchids that I tied into trees over the years during a wicked 3 day cold snap that killed and knocked back a ton of vegetation last winter. I am hoping this beauty continues to bloom for a while despite my house being full of construction dust - I will collect her flowers when they drop as she moves out of her bloom and then I will find her a nice shady spot to hang her in a basket - maybe under the pergola in Roxy's Square <3
