The learning curve is a bit steep but I have spent a few hours and have a functional home page and one post live...I consider this a win but how will the second post work? Thank you for your patience as I learn. I consider myself a lifelong learner and this is just a little virtual tangent on a relatively boring holiday weekend. I plan to share mostly from the perspective of my little butterfly garden in Roxy's Square but I am embracing this as a place for creative inspiration so no promises on focused content :)
Roxy's Square is a very small fenced in side yard where I enjoy gardening in privacy with my pup, Roxy. It has become my butterfly retreat and my little flowery oasis. I have spent countless hours in Roxy's Square since 2019, manually pulling grass planted by agriculture and development and replacing it with plants that support pollinators. The work is gradual, unrushed, therapeutic, and oh-so-soul-satisfying. RoxySquared.com was named after this garden space as a source of inspiration for this blog but I want to use this as a place where I can share anything that inspires me through my new photography journey. I am thinking of this blog as a digital substitute for social media which I have accepted as too toxic for consumption at the moment. I miss sharing my little slices of joy and I miss having a platform where I can write in a personal way. In a moment where grounding and focusing internally feels super important, I turn here to share and find community intentionally through native plants and photography. I hope you find a bit of joy in what I have to share including this super cute picture of Roxy girl at the St Sebastian River Preserve State Park, a favorite local spot for me to seek seclusion in nature. I saw and heard common nighthawks displaying "booming" behavior on this hike. I didn't know this is what I was witnessing and I suspect it is one of those natural experiences that you have a really hard time representing with a camera. If you haven't heard of this and you're interested in learning about common nighthawk booming, check out this video.

I think Roxy deserves a whole post, since she's such a super star!
